Welcome to Sandwich Maker, a delightful Vietnamese restaurant nestled in the heart of Los Gatos at 987 University Ave #38, Los Gatos, CA 95032. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this unassuming gem is a must-visit for those in search of authentic flavors and a warm atmosphere.

The moment you step inside, you're greeted by the sweet aroma of fresh herbs and marinated meats, evoking memories of bustling street markets in Vietnam. The restaurant's cozy setting, complete with friendly staff who treat every customer like family, makes it an inviting spot for lunch or a casual dinner. You'll find a couple of outdoor tables, perfect for enjoying your meal while soaking in the local ambiance.

Sandwich Maker specializes in a variety of mouthwatering dishes, but it's their banh mì that truly steals the show. The Beef Satay Baguette ($12.95) is bursting with flavor, featuring perfectly marinated beef served in a crusty baguette, complemented by fresh cilantro and pickled veggies. If you're looking to indulge, the Korean BBQ Ribs Over Rice ($21.50) is a showstopper, with tender, succulent pork ribs that are marinated to perfection and served over a bed of fluffy rice and vibrant vegetables. Another crowd favorite is the Tofu Baguette (Bánh Mì) ($12.95), offering a deliciously vegan option that does not skimp on flavor.

Don’t forget to pair your meal with one of their refreshing drinks. The Vietnamese Coffee is a must-try, rich with the essence of condensed milk, providing a deliciously sweet kick to your dining experience. Or opt for the Thai Tea ($5.50) for a creamy, soothing sip!

But don’t just take our word for it—that’s echoed by the enthusiastic reviews of satisfied customers. Mariah Wasserman raves, “The BEST chicken bánh mì I have ever had,” while David Dehoney enthusiastically declares it features “the best Vietnamese iced coffee in the South Bay.” With a consistent chorus of praises regarding the freshness of ingredients and the excellence of service, it’s clear that Sandwich Maker has secured its place in the hearts of its patrons.

If you’re near the Los Gatos area, make Sandwich Maker your culinary stop. Tucked away but undeniably impressive, this restaurant is a treasure waiting to be discovered. Bring your appetite and an open heart—you’ll leave feeling satisfied and likely rebooking your next visit!

The BEST chicken bánh mì I have ever had. I always order the shredded chicken bánh mì amd Thai iced tea (I bring my own milk and they are always so accommodating) amd it never disappoints. The chicken is cooked perfectly! The owners are the kindest people and remember all of their customers by name. Every time I am in the area, I must come in!

Great banh mi! And maybe the best Vietnamese iced coffee in the South Bay. A+++

Hands down, my favorite stop for a banh mi. I haven’t tried anything else on the menu, but if it’s anything like their banh mi’s, I’m sure everything is just as amazing! The sandwiches are always fresh and delicious and the service is so friendly and personable. Always my favorite stop in Los Gatos.

The shop is a little hard to find tucked in with a bunch of offices but is really good. We had the Vietnamese grilled pork and shredded chicken sandwiches and they were both really tasty. I was also surprised at how big the portion was too. Seemed like each order was 2 sandwiches from other places. The flavor of the shredded chicken and grilled pork were great! The pickled carrots were perfect too. Didn't take very long for them take prepare the order. It is also nice that you can see the people preparing the orders right behind the counter and the person at the register was super nice. The dining area is limited. There are 3 or 4 small tables inside and a few tables outside. The food and service is great so still a great place for takeout.

I had driven past this location hundreds of times before I discovered this phenomenal sandwich/Vietnamese shop. It’s tucked behind a bunch of offices and you’d never notice it in passing. They make excellent typical deli sandwiches, but first visit you must get the banh mí sandwich and/or the pho. The ingredients are fresh, the flavors are well developed, and I’m so glad to know this place exists! Always a line during lunch but well worth it.

Great little place to grab lunch. The owner is very friendly and he’s diligently working to clean up the chairs and tables, including the outside. It’s a family affair with all the ladies working in the back of the kitchen. The place is nice and clean with no frills lots of pick up orders coming through, which is a good sign. Looks like they have bought me sandwich but I didn’t have room to eat all three dishes. I tried the chicken phoa and it was very good. I really enjoyed the spring rolls. Majority of places do no longer include the Thai basil, but this one had it.

Tips: Cash only. There is an ATM machine in the shop if needed. Also, there is a couple round outdoor tables with benches. If you are not in a rush, grab food and take a seat. You may catch a glimpse of fire fighters training in their backyard (shop front is facing the back of the firehouse). My review is specifically for the breakfast burrito since this is the only thing I have ordered. For a $3.95 breakfast, it is on a smaller size. The burrito comes with a fry egg, your choice of bacon or ham and salsa. It took about 5 minutes to get my order so a quick place to grab and go if you are in the area.
